Testing you can read: each product page links a report from Contract Testing Laboratories of America (CTLA) on the methylene blue ingredient. It records an HPLC identity result of “Conforms” and individual results for arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead. We are clear about its limits: it covers the raw ingredient, and it does not give a purity percentage, finished-product potency or a result for every batch. IVBoost is a UK company with clinics at 48 Wimpole Street in London and on Berkhamsted High Street. It sells its own MitoGive range online, and this is the quickest way to get methylene blue to a UK address: free next working day delivery on orders over £40.

What you get: 60 capsules of 10 mg for £49.00, or £0.82 a capsule. Buying two drops the price to £44.10 each, and three to £41.65 each. The page lists the other ingredients (lecithin, silicon dioxide, dibasic calcium phosphate, HPMC capsule) and says the capsules suit vegetarians and vegans. The suggested use is one capsule three times a week on alternate days, so a bottle lasts about 20 weeks at that rate. A 20 mg version is also sold at £59.00 for 60.

What to weigh: the product page does not link a certificate of analysis, and it had no customer reviews when we checked. Its warnings cover medicines for depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions, strong painkillers such as opioids and codeine, and pregnancy and breastfeeding, but they do not mention G6PD deficiency. The smallest unit is 10 mg, twice NooBlue’s capsule.

Who it suits: UK buyers who value speed and a domestic contact over price and dose flexibility. Who it doesn’t: anyone who wants to start below 10 mg or see a lab report before buying.

#3. Earth Harmony Ultimate Methylene Blue: A Higher-Dose Capsule With Extras

Earth Harmony’s capsule carries 12 mg of methylene blue plus vitamin C and a plant blend of organic berberine, chlorophyllin and chlorophyll. It costs $39.95 for 60, which is $0.67 a capsule and one of the lowest prices per milligram here. UK visitors see prices in pounds, and international orders go by USPS Priority Mail International, which the brand says typically arrives in 6 to 10 business days.

What to weigh: the product page claims 99.99% USP grade and third-party testing, but it shows no certificate. The added berberine means this is not a plain methylene blue product, so check it against anything else you take. The safety box says not to combine it with SSRIs, antidepressants or other serotonin-affecting substances without medical supervision, not to use it in pregnancy or while nursing, and to consult a doctor if you know you carry a G6PD mutation. Who it suits: people who already know they tolerate a 12 mg serving and like the added ingredients. Who it doesn’t: first-time buyers who want to start low, or anyone who wants methylene blue on its own.

#4. Meraki Blu USP Grade Methylene Blue: The Finest Drop-by-Drop Steps

Meraki Blu is a 30 mL liquid with 150 mg of methylene blue, which works out to about 0.25 mg per drop. That is half the strength of a 1% solution, so it takes 20 drops to reach 5 mg, and it gives the smallest steps of anything here. The page suggests beginners start with 1 to 3 drops a day. One bottle is $35.00 ($0.23 per milligram), two are $65 and three are $89.

What to weigh: the product description says “For research purposes only”, while the same page gives daily dosing guidance. Meraki posts lab result images on the product page. Its description warns against use under 18, in pregnancy or while nursing, and with antidepressants or SSRIs. For UK orders, Meraki ships to most countries by DHL Express, UPS or USPS at a rate worked out at checkout, and import duties and taxes are the buyer’s responsibility (a duties-paid DHL option is offered where available). #5. LVLUP Health Mito Blue: Methylene Blue in a Mitochondrial Blend

Mito Blue is not a plain methylene blue product. Each capsule holds 10 mg of methylene blue with 400 mg acetyl-L-carnitine, 100 mg ubiquinol and 10 mg PQQ, and you take one a day. A one-time bottle of 60 is $89.99, or $1.50 a capsule, and subscribe and save brings it to $80.99. LVLUP says every lot is independently verified by third-party lab testing, though we found no certificate linked on the page.

What to weigh: LVLUP’s shipping policy puts international delivery at about 14 to 30 business days, after 2 to 4 business days of processing. Customers pay any customs duties and taxes, and orders held or refused at customs are generally not refunded. The UK is not on its list of restricted countries. On safety, the page says people taking SSRIs or MAOIs, pregnant or nursing women and under 18s should consult a qualified provider before use. It does not mention G6PD deficiency.

Who it suits: experienced users who want carnitine, ubiquinol and PQQ in the same capsule. Who it doesn’t: first-time buyers, anyone already taking CoQ10 or carnitine, and anyone who wants to know which ingredient is doing what.

#6. Biopharm Methylene Blue 1% USP: Lowest Price per Milligram

Biopharm sells a 1% USP solution at 0.5 mg per drop. The 50 mL glass bottle with dropper is $25.97, which is about $0.05 per milligram, the lowest of the six. During its current offer, two 50 mL glass bottles also cost $25.97. The brand says its methylene blue gets extra testing from third-party analysts.

What to weigh: Biopharm presents this as a laboratory chemical. The product page gives no suggested use and no safety warnings, and the store also sells pH buffers and conductivity standards. Free standard shipping covers only the lower 48 US states. The United Kingdom appears in the store’s country menu, but the shipping policy gives no international rates, so check the checkout total. Who it suits: experienced buyers who already know their serving and want the lowest cost per milligram. Who it doesn’t: anyone who wants directions, warnings and a supplement label on the bottle.

Brands We Left Out, and Why

A few names come up often in UK searches. Here is why they are not in the ranking.

• Troscriptions Just Blue. The troche brand now says its products are available only through healthcare practitioners, so a UK buyer cannot simply order it from the brand. Its own FAQ also says the troches turn the mouth and teeth blue for 2 to 24 hours. Our Troscriptions review has the details.
• Naturecan Ultra Pure Methylene Blue. A UK brand with a 60 mL liquid at £29.99 and 6 mg per 15-drop serving. It was listed as out of stock when we checked, so you could not buy it.
• Nutricel. A well-documented US brand, but its shipping policy says it ships only to addresses in the United States.
• “Research only” capsules from UK peptide shops. One UK seller’s own page for 5 mg capsules states “for laboratory research only” and “not for human or veterinary use”. We will not rank a product its seller says you should not take.
• Chemical supplier and aquarium solutions. Cheap 1% solutions sold for labs, schools, microbiology or fish tanks are made and labelled for those uses, not for people.

Methylene Blue Cost: What UK Buyers Pay per Milligram

Bottle prices mislead in this market because the amount per unit ranges from about 0.25 mg (a Meraki drop) to 12 mg (an Earth Harmony capsule). Here is the cost of the same 5 mg amount where a product lets you measure it, and the cost per unit where it doesn’t:

• Biopharm 1% solution: about $0.26 for 5 mg (10 drops).
• NooBlue 1% drops: about $0.30 for 5 mg (10 drops).
• NooBlue capsules: $0.63 for one 5 mg capsule.
• Earth Harmony capsules: $0.67 for one 12 mg capsule.

Grade and Paperwork: What to Check Before You Pay

“USP grade” means the ingredient meets the United States Pharmacopeia monograph for methylene blue, which requires not less than 97.0% and not more than 103.0% methylene blue, calculated on the dried basis. A label figure such as 99.9% or 99.99% is the brand’s own claim. It is only as good as the lab document behind it, so ask which lot and which test it comes from. Three questions sort most listings quickly:

1. Is it sold for people? Look for directions for use and a warnings panel. A “research only” or “not for human use” line is the seller telling you what the product is.
2. What does the lab document cover? An identity test and heavy metals on the raw ingredient (what NooBlue publishes) is different from an assay of the finished product or a result for each batch. Read the scope, not just the logo.
3. How much is in each unit? Drops per milligram, milligrams per capsule, and the suggested serving should all be on the page.

What the Research Says About Methylene Blue

Most interest in methylene blue comes from what it does in mitochondria. A 2018 review in Molecular Neurobiology by Tucker, Lu and Zhang describes how it can reroute electrons in the electron transport chain directly from NADH to cytochrome c, which raises complex IV activity in lab and animal studies.

In a 2004 rat study in Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, Callaway and colleagues found that low concentrations of methylene blue increased brain cytochrome c oxidation in lab tests, while high concentrations did not. Rats given 1 mg/kg by injection after maze training visited the correct holes 66% of the time in memory probe trials, against 31% for saline controls. Rat results do not tell us what happens in people.

The best-known human study is Rodriguez and colleagues’ 2016 trial in Radiology. Twenty-six healthy adults aged 22 to 62 were randomized, 13 to methylene blue and 13 to placebo, in a double-blind design. The methylene blue group took a single oral dose of 280 mg (about 4 mg/kg). An hour later, brain scans showed more activity during attention and short-term memory tasks, and correct answers in memory retrieval rose by 7%. That was one dose, in a small group, at an amount far above the 5 to 12 mg units the brands here sell. It does not show what a daily supplement serving does, and nobody should copy that dose.

So the honest summary is this: the mechanism is well described, the human evidence is small and short, and no study we know of shows that a daily supplement serving improves memory or energy in healthy adults. Safety: Read Before You Order Methylene Blue

These points apply to every brand in this guide, wherever you buy it:

• Not with serotonergic medicines. Do not take methylene blue if you take an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI or any other serotonergic medicine, including many antidepressants. The combination can cause serotonin syndrome.
