Quick answer
This page compares the Nutricel Supplements range, its lab reports and its Amazon reviews with NooBlue. For most people starting methylene blue or keeping to a low dose, NooBlue is the better fit: our capsules give an exact 5 mg of USP grade methylene blue in a plain formula, our 1% drops adjust in 0.5 mg steps, and our gummies give 10 mg with no sugar. Nutricel is the stronger choice if you want a 12 mg capsule at a lower cost per milligram, or if finished product lab reports matter most to you, because Nutricel publishes Eurofins reports on its bottled products. NooBlue makes the products we compare here against Nutricel, so weigh our view with that in mind.
Safety applies to both brands: do not take methylene blue if you take serotonergic medicines such as SSRIs or SNRIs, if you have G6PD deficiency, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Nutricel facts come from nutricel.store and its Amazon listings, read on September 25, 2026.
Written by the NooBlue editorial team. We make NooBlue, so this is one brand comparing itself with another. We have tried to give Nutricel credit where it is due, and every Nutricel figure links to the page we read it on.
Nutricel and NooBlue both sell USP grade methylene blue, both sell capsules and a 1% liquid, and both print the same warnings about serotonergic medicines. They differ in three ways that matter: the dose in each capsule, what else goes into the formula, and what their lab reports cover. This comparison goes through each one, then looks at price, what Nutricel Supplements reviews on Amazon show, and who should choose which brand.

The two ranges, product by product
NooBlue
NooBlue sells methylene blue only, in three formats. The Ultimate Methylene Blue Capsules hold 5 mg of USP grade methylene blue and 10 mg of vitamin C each, with rice flour in a cellulose shell, 60 to a bottle for $37.99. The 1% drops come in a 50 mL bottle for $29.99, giving about 0.5 mg per drop and about 100 servings of 5 mg. The gummies hold 10 mg of methylene blue and 25 mg of vitamin C, with 0 g of sugar, 60 for $49.99. There are no other actives in any of the three.
Nutricel
Nutricel sells a wider range of blends built around methylene blue. From its store on September 25, 2026:
- Blue Boost: 12 mg of USP grade methylene blue with vitamin C ester and organic cacao, $34.90 for 60 capsules or $49.90 for 120. This is Nutricel’s flagship.
- Blue Liquid: a 1% solution for $30.00, about 0.5 mg per drop, in an amber glass bottle with a graduated dropper.
- Blue Immune: 6 mg of methylene blue with beef liver extract, NAC, copper and magnesium bisglycinate, $26.25. Nutricel calls it the lowest dose option in its range.
- Blue Renew: 7 mg of methylene blue with glycine, NAC, collagen and creatine, $39.90.
- Blue Shroom: 7 mg of methylene blue with six mushroom extracts, $33.90.
- Blue Remove: 18 mg of methylene blue with zeolite, nattokinase, turmeric extract, bromelain, NAC and black pepper extract, $44.90. It is Nutricel’s highest dose formula.
So Nutricel gives you more choice of blends, and NooBlue gives you plain methylene blue in more formats. If you want methylene blue alone, Nutricel’s plain options are Blue Boost, which still includes cacao and vitamin C ester, and Blue Liquid.
Dose: a 5 mg capsule vs a 12 mg capsule
The biggest practical difference is the dose in each capsule. NooBlue’s capsule holds 5 mg and Nutricel’s Blue Boost holds 12 mg. Neither can be split accurately, because a capsule holds powder and halving it gives you an unknown share. So the capsule you buy sets your smallest daily dose.
More is not automatically better with methylene blue. A review by Rojas, Bruchey and Gonzalez-Lima describes a hormetic dose response, meaning low and high doses can have opposite effects (Rojas et al., Progress in Neurobiology, 2012). That is a reason to start low and move up slowly, and a 5 mg unit makes that easy: one capsule, then two if you and your doctor decide you want 10 mg.
We should be fair about the evidence here. It does not prove that 5 mg works better than 12 mg. The best known human trial gave a single 280 mg dose, about 4 mg per kilogram, to healthy adults and measured brain activity an hour later (Rodriguez et al., Radiology, 2016; full text). Both brands’ capsules are far below that, and we are not aware of any trial comparing daily 5 mg and 12 mg supplement doses. The case for a 5 mg capsule is control, not proven superiority. Our guide to how many mg of methylene blue per day explains how people choose a dose.
Testing and lab reports: where Nutricel is ahead
This is the area where Nutricel does more than we do, and you should know it. Nutricel publishes Eurofins lab reports on its products after bottling. Its certificates page says Eurofins, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab, checks heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury) and microbial safety on every product, and that methylene blue content is checked by titration assay against the label on its core formulas, Blue Boost and Blue Remove. Nutricel states 99.4% purity for the USP grade methylene blue it uses, and its product pages state 99%+.
NooBlue publishes a report from Contract Testing Laboratories of America (CTLA) on the methylene blue ingredient, lot 2025022801, report 135621. It confirms identity by HPLC and gives results for arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead. Our product pages say plainly that this is an ingredient level report: it does not test every finished batch and does not give a numerical purity percentage.
In short, both brands show you something you can read, which is more than many methylene blue sellers do. Nutricel’s reports cover the finished product. Ours cover the raw ingredient. If finished product testing is your deciding factor, that points to Nutricel. Our guide to reading a methylene blue certificate of analysis shows how to judge either brand’s paperwork, and our explainer on methylene blue purity covers what USP grade means.
Price and value
On cost per milligram, Nutricel is cheaper. Blue Boost works out at $0.24 per 5 mg of methylene blue in the 60 count bottle and $0.17 in the 120 count bottle, against $0.63 for NooBlue’s capsules, $0.42 for our gummies and $0.30 for our drops.
Cost per dose depends on the dose you want. If you want 12 mg a day, one Blue Boost capsule at $0.58 is cheaper than the NooBlue equivalent. If you want 5 mg a day, Blue Boost cannot give it to you, and the cheapest exact 5 mg dose across both brands is NooBlue’s drops at $0.30, or our capsules at $0.63 if you would rather not measure. Nutricel’s Blue Liquid page does not state the bottle volume, so we could not work out its cost per dose. For a wider price comparison, see our guide to the best methylene blue capsules.
Nutricel Supplements reviews: what the listings show
On September 25, 2026, the Amazon listing for Nutricel’s 60 count Blue Boost capsules showed 4.3 out of 5 stars from 1,729 ratings, at $35.00. The Amazon listing for its 7 mg mushroom capsule showed 4.1 out of 5 from 422 ratings. Those are Amazon’s figures, not ours, and star ratings measure how buyers felt rather than the grade of the methylene blue. We did not use ratings to compare the two brands, because they are easy to inflate and say nothing about what is in the bottle. If you are reading reviews of any methylene blue brand, look for comments about dose, side effects and the lab report rather than the star count.
Safety: the same rules for both brands
Both brands print the key warnings, and they are right to. Methylene blue is a potent, reversible inhibitor of MAO-A, the enzyme that breaks down serotonin (Ramsay et al., British Journal of Pharmacology, 2007), and combining it with medicines that raise serotonin can cause serotonin syndrome. Nutricel’s safety notices also warn that methylene blue interacts with many medicines, and name the allergy medicine Benadryl as one example.
Whichever brand you choose, do not take methylene blue if you:
- take an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI or other serotonergic medicine, or an opioid such as tramadol. The prescribing information for the injectable form carries its strongest warning for these combinations (DailyMed).
- have G6PD deficiency, because methylene blue can cause hemolytic anemia in people with this enzyme deficiency.
- are pregnant or breastfeeding, or under 18.
If you take any prescription medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Blends add their own questions, so check every ingredient in a multi ingredient formula too. Our guides to what not to take with methylene blue and methylene blue side effects cover the details. If you plan to combine methylene blue with other supplements, read whether you can take NMN and methylene blue together first.
Who should choose NooBlue, and who should choose Nutricel
Choose NooBlue if you:
- are new to methylene blue and want an exact 5 mg start (our capsules), or want to start below that (our drops)
- want plain methylene blue with nothing else in the formula
- would rather take a gummy than a capsule, since Nutricel does not sell one
- want free worldwide shipping on orders of $100 or more
Choose Nutricel if you:
- already know you want about 12 mg a day and want the lowest cost per milligram
- put finished product lab testing ahead of everything else
- want methylene blue blended with other ingredients, such as mushrooms or NAC, and have checked each one against anything else you take

Frequently asked questions: Nutricel vs NooBlue
Is Nutricel a legit methylene blue brand?
Nutricel publishes what a legitimate brand should: USP grade methylene blue, milligrams per capsule, servings per bottle, a named testing lab (Eurofins) and downloadable lab reports on its bottled products. It also prints clear warnings about serotonergic medicines. Whether its blends suit you is a separate question, but the brand gives you enough information to check it.
What is Nutricel Blue Boost?
Blue Boost is Nutricel’s flagship capsule: 12 mg of USP grade methylene blue with 35 mg of vitamin C ester (ascorbyl palmitate) and 235 mg of organic cacao powder. It costs $34.90 for 60 capsules or $49.90 for 120 on Nutricel’s store, and the label suggests starting with one capsule in the morning.
Which is better, Nutricel or NooBlue?
For a low, exact dose and a plain formula, NooBlue: our 5 mg capsule, 1% drops and 10 mg gummy cover more starting points, with nothing else added. For 12 mg capsules at a lower cost per milligram, or for finished product lab reports, Nutricel. NooBlue makes the products on one side of this comparison, so weigh our view with that in mind.
Does added vitamin C in a methylene blue capsule make a difference?
Both brands add vitamin C. NooBlue’s capsule has 10 mg of vitamin C and our gummy has 25 mg, and Nutricel’s Blue Boost has 35 mg of vitamin C ester. Vitamin C can donate electrons to methylene blue and shift it toward its colorless reduced form, leucomethylene blue, and Nutricel says its vitamin C ester helps form that reduced form. Neither brand has published data showing that the vitamin C changes how much methylene blue you absorb or how well it works, so treat it as sensible chemistry rather than a proven benefit.
Where is Nutricel made?
Nutricel says its products are made in the USA in an NSF registered, GMP certified facility, and that Eurofins verifies them after bottling. NooBlue’s product pages do not state a country of manufacture.
What is the best methylene blue brand on the market?
We rank NooBlue first, and we make it. For most people starting out, our 5 mg capsule is the simplest way to take an exact low dose of USP grade methylene blue, and our drops and gummies cover finer and easier dosing. Among other brands, Nutricel stands out for its finished product lab reports and low cost per milligram. Our guide to the best methylene blue supplements compares nine products on the same scale.
The verdict
For most people who are new to methylene blue or want to stay at a low dose, choose NooBlue: an exact 5 mg capsule of USP grade methylene blue with nothing else added, drops that adjust in 0.5 mg steps, and a 10 mg gummy with no sugar. Choose Nutricel if you want 12 mg capsules at the lowest cost per milligram or if finished product lab reports come first for you. Whichever you choose, check your medicines first and start low.
